SYDNEY JUST DAYS AWAY!
Scythian flies out to its international debut at the largest youth
festival in the world - World Youth Day - where they will perform
on stages for 70,000 and 300,000 youth. We could not have made this
trip without the generosity of our family, friends and fans. In
a very special way we'd like to thank Ave
Maria University who came through and supported us in a
big way to make this trip possible. So thanks for your generosity
everyone and helping make our dream a reality!
*LATEST
NEWS*
Initially we were slated to play only twice at WYD08, but it looks
like we have now confirmed SIX performances!!! We'll be playing
everywhere from Palm Grove in Tumbalong Park to Randwick Racecourse,
to multiple shows at a floating venue on a glass ship around Sydney
Harbor (whew!). Needless to say, it looks like we'll definitely
get a taste of Sydney!

Scythian
has been asked to come perform for the POPE on his Papal
Visit to Sydney for World Youth Day '08 and we need your help to
get there!
Scythian
has been been given slots on the main stage of the largest event
Australia has ever hosted (surpasing the Sydney Olympics): World
Youth Day.
World
Youth Day takes place every two years and this year it is celebrating
Pope Benedict XVI's inaugural visit to Australia. World
Youth Day is the largest youth festival in the world, playing host
to almost half a million young Christians from around the world
who will be celebrating life and learning about social concerns
(such as youth homelessness). An integral part of the celebration
is musical entertainment and this is where Scythian enters the picture:
The
World Youth Day entertainment committee caught wind of Scythian's
high-energy, fun-loving shows and thought our music would be a perfect
fit for the youthful character of the event. Needless to say we
are thrilled at the opportunity to play for the Pope and to travel
to Sydney (our first time), but we were also suprised to find that
World Youth Day has given Scythian a primary role in their musical
lineup: Scythian has been asked to play on
the festival main stage TWICE for up to 200,000 youth!
Not only that, WYD organizers have asked to use our song "Highway
81" as an official World Youth Day promotional song!

Just weeks ago we thought things couldn't get much better when we
were asked to play for the President of United States and
the Prime Minister of Ireland, Bertie Ahern on St. Patrick's Day
- and now we've been asked to play for the Pope. The President and
the Pope in one year!
HOW
YOU CAN HELP!
Although
World Youth Day has given us prime time slots, as a non-profit organization
and event, they are unable to fund any performers and we will have
to raise all the money to make the long and expensive journey to
the Downunder. We just purchased the airline tickets and those alone
cost over $16,000 so we are coming to you all with hats in hand
for help covering the costs involved.
We've
tried the traditional avenues of fundraising: hitting up heavy hitters
with deep pockets, but have had limited success. It seems that we're
being led back to that time-tried method that has helped us get
to where we are: grass-roots promotion. We are turning to you, our
faithful suporters to see whether you'd be willing to help us make
this voyage which will affect many young people from around the
world and undoubtebly catapult us onto the world stage. Opportunities
like this come once in a life time and we'd love to have our supporters
there with us in spirit and know that it was them that sent us to
play for the Pope.
If
you would like to help us in any way, we have set up a way where
your donation would be fully
tax deductible through our friends, FCCO, a non-profit Christian
association. We're suggesting donations of $25, $50 or $100 but
any amount will make a difference. We have seen the power of numbers
time and time again throughout our career and believe the snow-ball
effect will take effect here as well.
METHODS
OF DONATION: Check / Online
All
checks should be made out to FCCO with "scythian music foundation"
