September
Tour Schedule
Thursday,
Sept. 6th: Scythian booked at the Birchmere (VA) - at
long last Scythian has landed a gig at the Birchmere. This will
be a ginormous show for 2 reasons: 1) it'll be the first time in
six weeks the boys will be back in town, and 2) this is a momentous
achievement since playing at the Birchmere was a goal the band set
for themselves when they first started. Call it a benchmark if you
will. On Thursday September 6th @ 7:30pm Scythian
will have their Virginia CD Release
and the Birchmere will open up the Grandstand to commemorate the
event. The Grandstand is made for dancing and holds 1,000 people
and Scythian wants to fill it to capacity to show the Birchmere
that they're legit. If you've supported the band over the years,
come to this show and help Scythian step it up to the next level.
Tickets are available through Ticket
Master . THIS
IS AN ALL AGES SHOW so bring the kids. Website.

Saturday,
Sept. 10: Scythian goes clam-digging (MD)
- Scythian will be headlining the 40th Annual Maryland
Seafood Festival held at Sandy Point State Park, MD. The fellas
will close out Saturday night with the final slot on the mainstage
and they're chomping at the bit to play for all them bay-folk. This
will be Scythian's first time in the Annapolis area since those
fated Naval Academy shows last year and they've been given a chance
to prove themselves to the masses. So grab the kids, your appetite
and an apron and head on down to the Seafood festival! Show starts
730pm on main stage. See
website for more details.

Sunday,
Sept. 11th: PARADOX SPORTS Benefit for Injured Vets (DC)-
Scythian is proud to be play a benefit for US soldiers who have
who have been injured while in the service but who have a desire
to pursue their love of athletics. Paradox Sports’ mission is to
create an environment that minimizes the barrier between the disabled
and able bodied, inspiring all individuals to transcend perceived
physical or mental limitations. They coach and train their athletes
to take the risk of challenging themselves. Incorporating the natural
elements with already established communities in each sport, Paradox
athletes are not only taking risks and reaping rewards, but also
becoming integral parts of the outdoor sporting world. The benefit
will take place at Finn MacCool's starting at 4pm
so come ready to have a great time and with pockets ready to support
a great cause. Find out more about Paradox
Sports. (713
8th SE, Washington DC).

Friday-Saturday,
Sept 14, 15th: Michigan Irish Festival (MI) - The boys
will be back in Muskegon for their second Michigan Irish Fest. Last
year they were a late addition and only had a Sunday afternoon set.
But after rocking the house, Muskegon is giving Scythian a shot
at the main stage where they will be headlining the mainstage on
Friday night @ 830pm. On Saturday they'll be back
on the mainstage for a 3pm set. Remember, Muskegon is only
a 90 mile ferry ride from all you crazy Milwaukee people. So we
challenge you . . . nay, we scoff at you (with arms akimbo) to make
this treacherous voyage across lake Michigan to revel with us! Visit
website for more details.

JUST ADDED -- Wednesday, Sept. 19th: Shannon Pub (Buffalo NY)
- Lets just say that Buffalo has made a serious impression on Scythian.
It doesn't sport the biggest Irish Fest, but Scythian found its'
enthusiasm intoxicating. So they're coming back to relive some of
that Irish Fest madness at the Shannon Pub. This is going to be
a packed show so be sure to call ahead to make reservations. Sure
its a work night, but from the look of you at the Irish Fest this
won't be too much of an issue. Looking forward to rocking out with
you all again. Show starts 830pm. Visit
website for reservations.
--
JUST ADDED -- Thursday, Sept. 20th: Kitty Hoynes (Syracuse NY)
- Since we're snaking our way back from Michigan, we couldn't forget
all you Orangemen and women. It was a Thursday our last time out
and Kitty Hoynes was rocking as it were Friday! Your hospitality
knew no bounds - we were even given moist towelletes for our faces
upon entering your famed Irish pub. We assure you that we will bring
the thunder again as long as you come ready to bounce deep into
the night with pint glasses hoisted. Visit
website.
--
JUST ADDED -- Friday, Sept. 21st: Ithaca CD Release at CASTAWAYS
(NY)
- Scythian has never played in Ithaca, but they rocked out just
down the road at the Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance (see
pics). There the fellas set a Scythian record with over five
hundred people doing leg-kicks. Friday, Sept. 21st @ 9pm
Ithaca will rock at Castaways where all the college kids and those
who missed that famed Friday festival set will get a chance to see
what Scythian is about. Words cannot describe how excited Scythian
is to be back in the Finger Lakes where music seems to permeate
everyone's pours. Discount presale tickets are available for $8
at MusicToday.com
| $10 at the door. Visit
website.

Saturday,
Sept. 22nd: Irish Week (Wildwood NJ) - For the
third straight year Scythian is back in Wildwood to witness that
craziness which is Irish Week. It seems that
all of Philly evacuates and heads to the shore sporting their Eagle
green hell bent on proving that they are more Irish than the next
guy down the way. Amidst shouts of E-A-G-L-E-S, Scythian will be
headlining the Saturday night show along wih 2U - Americas premier
U2 covere band (they're dyslectic). Last year there was crowd surfing
involved so don't be suprised if you see one, two, three or even
four Scythian's launching into the crowd. Visit the official
Irish Week website here and reserve a weekend package since
there won't be a hotel available within a 30 mile radius. Scythian
goes on at 10:30pm on the mainstage.
Thursday,
Sept. 27th: Return of Scythian Thursday at Fado! (DC)
- Oh DC, how could we forget you. Although are persons were far
from you this summer, our hearts were at Fado (which made that whole
blood circulation part a little difficult). Truly we have missed
our old Thursday night haunt and are looking forward to that old
cobblestone dance floor with white-collars and blue-collars mixing
on the dance floor. This will be the first of three straight Thursdays
at Fado so tell all the friends and tell them to come out and see
Scythian up close and personal (which = loud). Show starts 9ish.
Located directly across from the Chinatown Metro. Website.
Friday,
Sept. 28th: Mick O'Shea's (Baltimore MD) - Baltimore,
we have not forgotten about you either. You were the start of our
CD Release tour 7 weeks ago and the Wednesday night time slot was
not the best for all of you. This time we're coming in on a weekend
and expect Baltimore to rock. School will be in session, paychecks
will be burning holes in pockets and Scythian will be rearin' to
go. Show starts at 10pm. Visit
website for more details.
Saturday,
Sept. 29th: StoutNYC (Manhattan NY) - Its a good thing
Scythian doesn't wear kilts, because the fellas will be perched
10ft above the bar at StoutNYC. These Manhattan shows are the stuff
of legend. The 26,000 Sq.Ft. venue unleashes something in Scythian
which makes the mad (in a crazy type of way). Last time they were
there a lion and three-toed sloth got loose from the NYC City Zoo
and Joey had to wrastle the Lion down with nothing more than his
fiddle while Dan got his bell rung with a stiff right hook from
the sloth. This goes to prove you never know what will happen at
a Stout show. Show starts at 10pm. Oh, and don't forget to
bring your dancing shoes! Visit
website. (133 W. 33rd St., Manhattan).
And
so, Baltimore, DC and New York City, we have not forgotten about
you. Philly you are on our mind as well and we are working to make
some solid appearances this fall. Please send us Downtown philly
recommendations (keeping in mind that we are a four piece and need
a decent sized stage). Hope to see you at a show soon!
News
Scythian
booked at Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Dance (NC)
- Scythian made an impression at the Grassroots Festival in New
York and so they've been booked for three days at the Grassroots
sister-festival in Silk Hope, NC (Shakori Hills) in October. Scythian
will be jamming out on a 70 acre farm where campers will be dancing
to the tunes of a plethora of bands from all styles. You'll hear
reggae, bluegrass, newgrass, funk, jam bands and of course - yours
truly. Visit
website for full lineup and more details.
New
Photos - we've been remiss in posting pictures since
we've been on the road, but we have a plethora from our tour and
will be posting them soon. To mend our wayward ways and want to
let you know we've posted
pics from Summerfest with Guster and Grassroots Festival of
Dance with more to come. You can view them in our Photo
Gallery.
Scythian
E-Card - The
lads have finally done it! They bit the bullet and let the seeds
of "grass-roots" fly into the abyss of cyber-space. Now
you can tell your friends about Scythian without actually having
to talk to them: you can send this a snappy Scythian E-Card. All
you have to do is come up with something witty to say about the
band and invite your friends and co-workers to view the following
link: www.scythianmusic.com/ecard/index.html.
Thanks for the support!
Well
that about sums it up for now. We're looking forward to seeing you
all at some of our random stops and hope you enjoy the new album.
Cheers,
The
